In 1992, nearly 30,000 rubber duckies fell off of a boat leaving China. Yes, 28,800 bath toys were lost at sea, and for years to follow, rubber duckies washed up on beaches far, far away from where the shipping container was originally compromised.

Tens of thousands of rubber duckies began a journey that took most of them to the beaches of Australia and Indonesia, many making landfall in South America.
