Jackie Specht, a former longtime Mukilteo Library employee, died last month at her home in Mukilteo.

Specht, 68, was found by a friend. Specht had worked as a DVS community advocate for about five years.

Mayor Joe Marine knew Specht from her work at the library and involvement in the community.

“Jackie was a very special person who was very engaging and friendly, which made her an excellent member of the library team,” he said. “My heart goes out to her family. She will leave a hole in our community.”

Mukilteo Library manager Jane Crawford said Specht was a page and public service assistant.

“Living and working in the Mukilteo community, she had deep connections with many people and local organizations. In the library, she shared her keen interest and knowledge of literature and books with hundreds of people over the years,” Crawford said. “She will be missed by many people.”

Specht was employed by Sno-Isle Libraries from 1998 through 2018.

Chris McBride, deputy director of programs at DVS, said as a community advocate Specht worked directly with individuals.

“She did it very well. Lots of our clients absolutely loved her. DVS is extremely sad she passed. She really was beloved.”
