Elisabeth Fernande Kakala (Schmid) passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on her 80th birthday, April 23, 2021. Born April 23, 1941 in Courrendlin, Switzerland. Elisabeth (Liz) moved to Seattle, Washington, in 1960 and started her family. She dedicated her life to her three children and created many wonderful childhood memories for us. Many of them were camping and fishing. She was a fabulous cook and had a great passion for gardening. She truly lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures; chatting with friends and family and doing puzzles. She loved being surrounded by her grandchildren. She had an uncanny ability to reach people in a deep positive way, with quick wit and an amazing sense of humor. You never left the room without her expressing her sweet love for you. She will be very missed. Elisabeth was preceded in death by her husband, Russell, her daughter, Tania, her parents, Arthur Schmid and Hedwige Verdon, three brothers, Germain, Michael, and Martial. She is survived by her sister Denise Béguelin, daughter, Anita Bernardi (husband, Mike), son, Raymond and stepson, Russell Kakala, along with many grandchildren & great grandchildren, cousins, aunts, uncles and dear friends.
