Gary Richard Eveland: July 6, 1941 – Aug. 1, 2014

Posted

Gary was born in Minneapolis, Minn. His family moved to the View Ridge neighborhood in Everett when he was young.

He graduated from Everett High School in 1959. He was proud to be associated with the special “Never Before-Never Again” class, and enjoyed their many planned events and reunions.

Gary met Sharon Harriss in 1992, and together they had many wonderful years together, living in Mukilteo. Gary worked for Sumner Iron Works, Wold Hardware and Seattle Lighting, retiring after more than 30 years as a Builder’s rep in 2003.

He was a member of Milltown Sailing Association for several years and took great pride in his favorite sailboat, Jabez, and the many friends he made over the years.

After selling Jabez, his new love was a Harley Davidson motorcycle. He enjoyed his fun day trips with his many biker friends.

Gary suffered a serious stroke several years ago and, although his memory was greatly compromised, he was a visible resident in Mukilteo on his daily walks and chats with neighbors.

He will be missed by his many special friends in and around Mukilteo and will always be remembered for his quick wit, love of animals and the meticulous care he gave everything, including his yard, truck and bike.

He is survived by his son, Shawn Eveland, grandsons Anthony and Brandon, brother, Jeff (Doris), sister, Tracy Grinspan, several nieces and nephews and his partner of more than 22 years, Sharon Harriss, as well as her children, Steve (Kolee) and Kris (Mindy) and several great nieces and nephews.

At Gary’s request, there is no funeral service planned. A gathering of family and friends will be held at a later date.
