Bonnie Margaret Brown: 1943-2024

Posted

Bonnie Margaret Brown (née Remus), born on July 4, 1943, in Wellington, New Zealand, peacefully passed away in her home in Mukilteo, WA, on February 1, 2024, at 80, following a two-year illness. Her family surrounded her at her bedside with an abundance of love and gratitude and reflected together on a life well lived.

Bonnie was a central figure in the lives of her family. Her influence was monumental, and her impact will live on in her family for generations. She found the most joy in raising her daughters in Honolulu and Port Orchard, cooking and baking, camping in the wilderness, putting her magical touch on all the Holidays to make them memorable for her grandchildren, capturing memories by crafting and gifting thoughtful scrapbooks, collecting antiques, growing beautiful gardens, playing her ukulele, practicing her religious faith, and being active in her retirement by walking, kayaking, Zumba classes and travel. You could always count on her to be your biggest supporter; her smile and laughter brightened any moment.

Bonnie held her dear friends, whom she met in Port Orchard, close to her heart. She worked in restaurant management there for 15 years and was grateful to the owners for the opportunities. There, she found purpose in engaging with loyal customers, supporting the local high school sports teams, and contributing to community events and development.

Bonnie is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, Edwin Brown. She will be dearly missed by her adoring daughters: Sharon Berry (husband Mike Atkinson), Patricia Brown, and Joyce Bloomquist (fiancé Joseph Garcia). Her spirit will carry on in her cherished grandchildren: Jacob Berry (father Richard Berry), Ava and Vanessa Bloomquist, and Alexander and Sophia Espinoza (father Carlos Espinoza, Jr.).

The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the Kaiser Hospice team for their loving and compassionate care over the last two years, allowing Bonnie to be comfortable at her family home.

Our beloved matriarch's parting words were, "I love you," which she repeated until she could not anymore. These words perfectly encapsulate the essence of this unforgettable woman who loved so profoundly. We look forward to receiving signs of her love that will continue to guide us through our lives.

A private memorial service will celebrate Bonnie's life in the coming weeks.
