Police investigating former Kamiak employee for sexual misconduct

The Mukilteo Police Department is investigating a former Kamiak employee for alleged sexual misconduct.

In an email sent to families Wednesday, May 24, Kamiak principal Stephen Shurtleff said that “to protect student privacy and the investigation process, we are limited with what we are sharing at this time. However, I am able to share that the employee named in the investigation was placed on leave as soon as the allegations surfaced and is no longer employed at Kamiak or in our district.”

Shurtleff said the school wants students with information about the investigation to feel comfortable and supported in bringing that information forward to administrators at Kamiak.

“This connects to a big lesson we are teaching our students all the time: If you see something, say something. At Kamiak, we have a long history of working through significant challenges. While this moment is especially difficult, I believe we will work through this together as we end our school year well. “

Mukilteo Police crime prevention officer Nathan Fabia confirmed the case is an active investigation and that the department would not be commenting on it.
