Kamiak's Hammons wins 1,600, 3,200 races

Kamiak's Natalie Roberts takes fifth place in the 800 during the Wesco 4A championships Friday at Veterans Memorial Stadium in Snohomish.

Kamiak's Jackson Hammons collected a pair of medals at the Wesco 4A boys track and field championships last week at Veterans Memorial Stadium in Snohomish.

Hammons captured the 1,600 in 4:30.65 and the 3,200 in 9:51.20, where he edged Jackson's Logan John by .15 seconds. Teammate Myson Jackson finished first in the high jump with mark of 6 feet.

Second-place finishers for the Knights included Eli Farmer (pole vault), Erik Lee (javelin), and A.J. Winsor (shot put). Mariner's Jaquan Means took second in the 100 and 110 hurdles. Teammate Un Wall was second in the 300 hurdles. The Marauders also place second in the 400 relay.

In the girls meet, Mariner's Anna Camara won the shot put with a throw of 33-06, and Angela Rodriguez-Frias captured the long jump with mark of 16-08. Kamiak's Alessandra Valmonte won the discus with a throw of 100-08 and Bella Hasan took the triple jump with a leap of 35-03.

Kamiak's Annabelle Heiman took second in the 400, and Katelyn Booth was second in the 3,200. Kalia Estes finished second in the 100 and 300 hurdles. Vivian Mawudeku took second in the long jump. Mariner's Tegan Ramey took second in the triple jump.

Mariner's 800 relay and Kamiak's 1,600 relay each took second place.
