After trailing in the initial vote count, Carolyn (Dode) Carlson has inched ahead of Alex Crocco 23.99% to 23.49% (1,098 to 1,075) in the race for the second spot in the Mukilteo City Council Position No. 3 race.

Former Councilmember Steve Schmalz leads with 39% (1,785). Tim Ellis was fourth with 13% (608). The top two finishers advance to the Nov. 2 general election. The primary results will be certified on Aug. 17. The next vote count will be Aug. 5.
