Some flights out of Paine Field take off when tower is closed | Guest View

Despite the MRD (Mediated Role Determination) adopted by Snohomish County in 1979 that paved the way for residential development around PAE (Paine Field) with the county's assurance that PAE would remain a "General Aviation Airport," the 1990 ANCA (Airport Noise and Capacity Act) pretty much nixed the county's ability to keep PAE a general aviation airport, even if they wanted to. The ANCA also allows flights 24/7 and doesn't allow enforcement of curfews unless grandfathered in. 

Prior to the pandemic, commercial air service at PAE was operating at its maximum approved 24 departures and 24...

My vote will go to the candidates who will make reducing the noise and air pollution coming Paine Field their main focus, with their bias towards supporting the residents affected, not the airport. Buying tickets to fly out of Paine Field does not help our cause, no matter how convenient.
