State of the City? State of means the level of development, good or bad condition. Much of her address is to praise staff for doing a good job last year. Great, if that is the state of the City. I expected specific status about Mayor and Council's annual listed priorities. What were last year's priorities and what is their status or state? She says City finances ended on a strong note. They would not have added $350,000 to reserves without the many hundreds of thousands of sales tax dollars from construction of the new ferry terminal. What will completion of that windfall mean to accomplishing the current list of City priorities? One top Council priority is to seek other sources of revenue. Her top priority is to attract new businesses, especially industrial, aerospace and high-tech manufacturing. Those companies sell what they make without collecting any sales tax for Mukilteo--sold for resale. No tax benefits at all. Why a priority? Limit cars idling at schools and ferry. How ?
