A ragged man is huddled in the corner of the bank entrance so he can shelter from the cold winter wind. As I walk by, I try to avoid looking at him at all, especially his eyes. “The homeless people in this town are growing too rapidly.”
Other members of the Chamber of Commerce and I do not know what to do with them. They are a nuisance, bad for business. Yet there they are … very present!
So, since they won’t go away, we decide what we can do is sponsor a soup kitchen where these poor souls can get one good meal a day.
Besides, our charitable compassion, well-covered in the newspape...
