A long time coming: Mukilteo author publishes first novel

It took about 20 years for Roy K. Brown to finish 'Awakened from Oblivion'

Even though Roy K. Brown made his living as a real estate appraiser and home inspector, he also found time to indulge in his passion for writing.

As a boardmember of the Washington Blues Society, he wrote more than 50 articles for the organization's monthly publication, Blueletter. Brown also penned a five-part short story that was published in the weekly online newsletter of the American Institute of Inspectors.

But Brown had loftier aspirations – writing a full-length book – even though by his own admission he wasn't an author. It took about 20 years, but Brown achieved his goal with...
