City Council nixes Regional Fire Authority proposal

Mukilteo won't pursue merger talks with Everett for now

The timing isn't quite right for the City of Mukilteo to pursue talks with Everett about a proposed Regional Fire Authority.

During its Monday, July 13, work session, the City Council reached a consensus that it had no interest in engaging in further discussions with Everett about that city's Regional Fire Authority (RFA) proposal.

An RFA is a special purpose district established by voters in a specific area to provide funding for fire and emergency medical services. An RFA must involve at least two jurisdictions that agree to merge services. RFA proponents tout lower taxes for single famil...
