I’ve been doing some thinking, and the last person I actually hugged before we all locked ourselves in our houses was a linguist. You never know who’s going to be the last one.

It was a random thing, just a meal in early March with friends, quick hugs and waves at the end, but I’m pretty sure we all used good grammar.

And I asked her the other day about Covid, or COVID. It’s not an acronym but it’s an abbreviation of sorts, and I was curious about the proper way to spell it. It doesn’t really matter, but I have to type it and so was curious. She’s a linguist. It was that kin...
