Watching the men and their flowers | Chuck's World

I slipped in and out of the grocery store on Valentine’s Day, getting what I needed quickly and trying not to stare.
It’s become an annual adventure, observing the mating rituals of the contemporary American male on the most desperate holiday human beings have ever invented.
You might be surprised to learn that I honor this behavior. The air around the floral department is thick with lust, fear, and a particular brand of body spray, and I observe in silence, respectful of the process. I make jokes only when I get home, although occasionally I’ll smile in the parking lot.
