Dec. 11

Little Science Lab

11:15-11:45 a.m. In partnership with Imagine Children’s Museum, Sno-Isle Mariner Library will be hosting a bilingual 30-minute weekly STEM program in Spanish and English that encourages preschool-age kids to explore the world around them. Event repeats Dec. 18.

Dec. 13

ESL Talk Time

10-11 a.m. Talk Time is a time for adults to practice speaking English in a friendly and supportive setting. Join in for weekly drop-in sessions to practice English with library volunteers. This event is made possible by Sno-Isle Mariner Library. Event repeats Dec. 20.

LEGO Block Party

4-5 p.m. Create with LEGO at the library! Build independently or join in a construction challenge. Sno-Isle Mariner Library provides the materials; children provide the imagination. This activity is designed for school-aged children.

Benefit concert

8 p.m. Award winning singer and actor, Lauren Paris, is doing a benefit concert at The Little Theatre in Edmonds-Woodway. The 2007 graduate will be performing show tunes, classic standards, and a selection of pop tunes.  She will be accompanied by the pianist from the 5th Avenue. Tickets are $25 and all proceeds go to the high school’s drama department. Dec. 14

Hiking with polar bears

10:15 a.m.-1 p.m. The next Northwest Nature and Wildlife Photographers program will feature “Hiking with Polar Bears” by NNWP Member Dan Clements. Photos of the Aurora, Tundra Wolf, Ptarmigan, Snowy Owl, Arctic fox, and Caribou will also be shared. Following the photo and video presentation, the program moves onto a discussion of the current status of polar bears in a warming Arctic environment, and what their future looks like. Event takes place at Mukilteo City Hall, 11930 Cyrus Way.

Imagination Band

11 a.m.-12 p.m. Join Sammy the Traveling Raccoon and his puppet friends on an interactive musical adventure into the Magical Forest. Imagination Band features original music on guitar, ukulele, and flute. Event takes place at Sno-Isle Mariner Library.

Getting Started as a Blogger

2-4 p.m. A free technology class will take place at the Mukilteo Library in the large meeting room. Students will learn how to register a domain name, buy hosting, install WordPress, and set up the basic security measures needed for a stable blogging platform. Presented by Lisa Norman. This class focuses on the basics of starting an online blog. The class will also explore how and when to post, as well how to develop ideas into content. Snowing Ice Cream with Harmonica Pocket

11 a.m.-12 p.m. Put on a cozy hat and celebrate the magic of winter with books, ukuleles, and silly-sweet seasonal songs. Event takes place at Sno-Isle Mariner Library.

Cozy Up and Sing into Reading

2-3 p.m. The Mukilteo Library is hosting a free winter concert from local musician Nancy Stewart. She will be singing about winter and all the ways singing helps build the skills children need to be ready to read. This event is for toddlers through early elementary. “The Longest Night”

5:30 p.m. A service of hope and comfort. Joy can be hard to find during the winter season due to loss and grief, transition or displacement, or the isolation or estrangement from family or friends; come hear words of comfort and hope. All are welcome to come to a service of word, music, and reflection. Pointe of Grace Lutheran Church is located at 5425 Harbour Pointe Blvd, Mukilteo.

Christmas Eve Service

Family Activity Afternoon

3:30-5 p.m. Drop in for an afternoon of family activities, including games, art projects, and play. For all ages, caregiver required for young children. This program is made possible by funding from Sno-Isle Libraries and Friends of the Mukilteo Library.

Winter Slime!

11 a.m.-12 p.m. Join in and create fluffy winter slime! This event is for youth ages 5 and up. Registration is required; select an arrival time of 11 or 11:30. Event takes place at Sno-Isle Mariner Library.

1-3 p.m. Need help connecting with social services, health insurance, affordable care, and financial assistance programs like SNAP? Meet with a CHC of Snohomish County specialist. Event is for adults only and takes place at Sno-Isle Mariner Library.

7-9:30 p.m. Don will teach Fouka Vitr Vud Hor, a Czech couple dance. There will be a program of international folk dances and requests until 9:30. Every Other Tuesday Writers Group

6-7:30 p.m. The Mukilteo Library will be continuing their series of programs for teen and adult writers--The Every Other Tuesday Writers Group. These programs take place every other Tuesday night. Join other writers for discussion, critique, writing exercises, and free writing time. Workshops and guided exercises take place every other session. America’s Boating Club

6:30 to 8:30 p.m. America’s Boating Club of Snohomish County, otherwise known as the Everett Sail and Power Squadron, will be offering to the public a 6-week boating course on the fundamentals of safe boating. The course is designed to familiarize the student with the basics needed to operate a boat safely and comply with state and federal laws.  Upon successful completion of the final test, students will qualify for the Washington State Boater Education card, which is required before operating watercraft in the state. Classes will be held at the Corporate and Continuing Education Center of Everett Community College, 2333 Seaway Blvd. Cost is $120. To register, go to EverettCC.ed/CCEC.

Edmonds Starlight Beach Walk

7-8:30 p.m. Join Discovery Programs staff and the WSU Snohomish County Extension Beach Watchers for an evening of winter discovery under the stars. They will explore the beach as the tide goes out, then return to the visitor station to enjoy hot beverages to take the chill off. Bring a flashlight and dress for the weather - they go out rain or shine! Sturdy footwear or rubber boots are recommended. Meet at the Olympic Beach Visitor Station, 200 Admiral Way, Edmonds, at the base of the fishing pier. All ages are welcome. The event is free and open to the public. 6 p.m. Mukilteo Yacht Club is a casual, relaxed boating club with no blue blazers in sight.  Come to the MYC meeting to meet new boating friends. MYC offers several cruises each month, plus monthly meetings and social events.  Both power boaters and sail boaters are welcome.
