More thumbs up for Stoltz
Kudos to Kevin Stoltz for his recent Guest View article “Let’s talk airplane noise” in the Aug. 21, 2019 Mukilteo Beacon.
We have experienced a few months of the increased commercial airport noise at Paine Field and need to take action to stop the potential increase in future flights.
If you are so inclined, please participate in his two suggestions for action: one, push for a voluntary noise curfew at Paine Field; and two, file noise complaints (search Paine Field Noise Complaints).
Also, please pay close attention to the Snohomish County elections coming up soon.
A number of candidates seem to be focused more on making money on Paine Field than taking into account the citizens concerns.
Thanks for restarting the conversation, Kevin!
Thanks for making Garden and Quilt Tour a success
Thank you city of Mukilteo for your support once again for the Mukilteo Garden and Quilt Tour (MGQT). The 2019 tour was another success with a sellout crowd. The weather was stupendous, the gardens spectacular and the quilts the additional touch of loveliness that made for a fabulous event!
“The Tour,” which is made up of the Mukilteo Way Garden Club and the Mukilteo Lighthouse Quilters, thank the eight wonderful garden owners and all the attendees for making this event a success. Also our local retailers Ace Hardware and Barbara’s Floral for enthusiastically selling tickets to the event.
The Beacon also did a great article on the tour that featured Lois Brown, her garden, and some of the quilts on display. Lots of work by members of both groups and local businesses have helped the tour’s reputation of an event not to miss. Again, we thank you!
If you are new to our fair city, the event occurs every other year in the odd years. Local gardens are showcased by quilts made by members of our local guild. Each club is a nonprofit entity and the garden club maintains two local gardens and provides an annual scholarship to a Washington accredited horticultural program. The quilt club is a part of the Mukilteo Parks and Recreation program. Funds support their Comfort Quilt program that gives quilts to foster children, meal programs and veterans.
Both groups deeply appreciate the grant funds that support this tour and then the way tour proceeds support our efforts to give back to our community.
Again, we are incredibly grateful to the garden owners that allowed us access to their private sanctuaries; also to the Community Garden, celebrating its 10th year, for sharing their space with the tour attendees.
A lot of work went into preparing the gardens for sharing and viewing.
If you live within the Mukilteo School District boundaries and would like to share your garden, please contact MGQT at: Mukilteogardenandquilttour.org or call Kathy Wisbeck at 425-870-1775.
Thanks again and here’s to another great tour in 2021!
Secretary, MGQT Board 2019
Support for Rohrbough
It’s concerning to me that some people feel there is a lack of honesty and integrity in our politicians at every level of our government. I disagree.
There are good people running for office that can make a difference and represent everyone.
Anna Rohrbough is one of these people. She very much cares about Snohomish County and is very concerned about its health and welfare.
She is known for her honesty and integrity, and we should not let her slip through our fingers.
Please support and vote for Anna for Snohomish County Council Position 2.
The best of the best.
