Young players help Knights capture state crown | Boys golf

 


Kamiak came into the 4A state boys golf championships as one of the favorites.

The Knights’ lineup including four seniors, two of whom placed in the top 20 at last year’s meet.

But it was a freshman and a sophomore who propelled Kamiak to a state title Wednesday, May 22, at The Creek at Qualchan Golf Course in Spokane.

Freshman Daniel Kim and sophomore Josh Clogston both shot 3-over-par 147 over two days to tie for fifth place and help the Knights finish atop the leaderboard for the fourth time in school history.

The Knights took first place with a total score of 597, three strokes...
