Kamiak successful at state solo and ensemble contest

Kamiak’s mixed barbershop, the Midknights, placed second in state for the large mixed ensemble category.

Kamiak sure has some talented musicians.

The school’s barbershop groups and soloists, as well as members of the school’s band and orchestra all had tremendous success at the Washington Interscholastic Activities Association/Washington Music Educators State Solo and Ensemble Contest April 26 and 27.

The contest took place at Central Washington University in Ellensburg.

The men’s babrbershop group – Do Re Migos – won first place in the large men’s ensemble category. The Mixed Barbershop – Midknights – placed second in state for the large mixed ensemble category. The women’s group – Starry Knights – placed third in the large women’s ensemble category.

For solosists, Ella Corwin placed second in the soprano solo category, Jack Burrows placed third in the bass solo category, and Kevin Pessoa placed second in trombone.

Imperium Quartet placed second in strings-small, One-and-a-half-Asian men took first in brass-small, and Uber Kammerstreich placed first in strings-large.
