Body found floating near boat docks was Edmonds grandmother

Members of the Mukilteo Fire Department and the Mukilteo Police Department were on-scene investigating the dead body found in the water.

The Snohomish County Sheriff's Office says an 88-year-old woman found floating in the water in Mukilteo was an Edmonds grandmother with dementia who family members say wandered from her home.

There was heavy fire and police presence at Lighthouse Park as first responders are investigating a dead body found in the water.

The body was discovered at 11:13 a.m. just west of the boat docks according to the Mukilteo Police Department's Crime Prevention Officer, Myron Travis.

The victim is Caucasian woman, and her body was discovered and recovered by boaters.

According to Travis, police and fire are investigating the area for a potential sunken boat, or other potential victims.

In Twitter posts, the Mukilteo Police Department said the body was transported to the Snohomish County Medical Examiners Office.

"Victim is an elderly female wearing a burgundy top, white shirt, burgundy pants, and black fleece vest. Anyone with information or inquires please contact the ME (Medical Examiners) office at 425-438-6200," the Mukilteo Police Department said in a Tweet.
