Gregerson announces remaining cuts for 2018 budget

December 20, 2017

According to Mukilteo Finance Director Michelle Meyer, Mayor Jennifer Gregerson has made cuts to officially balance Mukilteo’s 2018 budget.

“After carefully reviewing the 2018 budget, the mayor has identified where we have the ability to come up with the $2,271 that she was tasked to cut without impacting service delivery,” Meyer said.

There will be a $1,000 reduction in amount budgeted for the large item pickup, which the City Council proposed $50,000 for in 2018.

According to Meyer, the city spent $45,000 in 2017.

“$49,000 should be sufficient,” Meyer said.

To round off the remaining $1,271 needed, there is a $1,271 reduction in the $20,000 that was budgeted for the Snohomish County Health District.

“2017 was $10,000 so there was room to reduce the amount while still making a substantial increase in our contribution,” Meyer said.
