The Alderwood Dance Spectrum is performing “A Storybook Nutcracker” at the Everett PUD Auditorium (2320 California Street) on Dec. 8 and 9.

“This will be its 21st year in Everett,” Sylvia Kawabata, the office manager of Alderwood Dance Spectrum said.

Alderwood Dance Spectrum continues this Everett holiday tradition.

The ballet has been shortened slightly to make it engaging for all audiences, while retaining its original magic and charm.

“What makes this an interesting story is that four of the cast member are from a Mukilteo family, the Websters.

Alex Webster, who was Washington State University’s “Butch the Coug” mascot, will be the Mouse King.

Natalie, the eldest of the Webster children, will be Clara, Ben will be Fritz and Emma, the youngest Webster, will be a soldier who fights the Mouse King and also is part of the Chinese tea dance.

“Their mother also has a very important role in coordinating the numerous rehearsal schedules, school activities, transportation, etc.,” Kawabata said. “Also, many of the cast members are from the greater Edmonds, Lynnwood, Mukilteo and Everett areas.”

With a cast of over 50 dancers and actors, this production is fully staged, with falling snow, great costumes and colorful scenery.

Following the performance, guests are able to meet the cast, in character, for photos and autographs.

Ticket are $20 for reserved seats (plus service fee) at
