‘Killer Whale Tales’ at NW Stream Center | A&E brief

A killer whale breaches the water in the Puget Sound. See photos and videos of the local killer whale pod at the Northwest Stream Center May 14.

The Adopt A Stream Foundation presents “Killer Whale Tales” at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 14, at the Northwest Stream Center.

Biologist and photographer Jeff Hogan will bringing the San Juan killer whale population to the center via his photographs and underwater video.

Hogan will teach attendees how to recognize if a killer whale is swimming to get to another location, hunting for salmon, or just playing. You will also be able to tell if killer whales are sleeping.

Attendees will receive “whale trading cards” that will enable you to identify each whale by looking at its dorsal fin....
