Stuff the Bus drive seeks school supplies, snacks

Mukilteo School District bus drivers collect school supplies Tuesday, part of the annual Stuff the Bus drive for students. They said collections were going well so far, including a Costco donation of 100 backpacks. As often happens every year, they said they’re also short on bus drivers as the 2026-27 school year approaches. Helping out are, from left, Mike Martin, Miriam Morin, Rodney Stults, Anand Chandra and Michelle M.

With the 2026-27 school year approaching, the Mukilteo School District is asking the community to help “Stuff the Bus” with school supplies and nonperishable snacks for students.

Donations will be collected from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Aug. 10-12 at Walmart on Everett Mall Way in Everett; Aug. 13 at QFC on Mukilteo Speedway in Mukilteo; and Aug. 14 at Safeway at Highway 99 and Beverly Park Road in Lynnwood.

Needed school supplies include backpacks, Ticonderoga pencils, 24-count crayons, 10-count color markers, 12-count colored pencils, composition notebooks, 2- or 3-inch ring binders or accordion file binders, pencil pouches and snap-shut school boxes.

The district also is seeking nonperishable snacks, including granola and energy bars, popcorn, single-serve cereal cups, whole-grain crackers, shelf-stable milk and shelf-stable juices.

“When children have the tools they need to learn, they’re better equipped to succeed and thrive,” organizers said. “Your generosity helps set students up for a successful school year.”
