Mukilteo School District will host a virtual community conversation Wednesday, Sept. 23, to give families, students and community members information and practical tools for helping keep students safe.
The Safe & Secure Schools webinar begins at 6 p.m. A link to the event will be posted at mukilteoschools.org/events.
The interactive event will cover the district’s approach to school safety, including building security, visitor management, emergency preparedness, bullying prevention, mental health, digital safety and student belonging.
“Keeping students safe starts long before there is an emergency,” Safety Director Russ Robinson said. “Families and students are important partners in that work. Understanding how schools respond in an emergency, how to report a concern and where to turn for help all contribute to creating safe, welcoming schools where students can thrive.”
Participants will have an opportunity to work through real-life scenarios and learn about resources available throughout the district. Students also will discuss what helps them feel safe at school and the importance of having trusted adults they can turn to.
Robinson said participants will receive information they can use to report safety concerns, access mental health support, prepare for emergencies and help create safer, more connected schools.
“Attendees will leave with practical tools they can use right away,” he said.
