In his later years, Ryan worked as an oyster server at several seafood restaurants in Seattle including Taylor Shellfish, Bar Melusine/Boat Bar, and Westward, which are all part of the Eat Sea Creatures family of restaurants. His last position with Westward was lead Oyster Shucker where his co-workers and customers affectionately called him "The Oyster King."
