Dan Cook passed away peacefully March 25, 2022, after a long battle with CTE (Chronic traumatic encephalopathy). Dan served for many years as a teacher and coach at Olympic View Middle School, and a coach at Kamiak High School. He loved his students and he loved teaching and coaching. Dan's greatest love was his family. Dan enjoyed woodworking, pottery, and helping others, and his favorite book was his Bible. I have many special memories as his son. I especially cherish the time I spent with him in Hong Kong, showing him the school where I taught English. Dan had a very successful football and wrestling career at the University of Oregon. He loved sports but had a lot of injuries. CTE is sadly caused by repeated blows to the head and repeated episodes of concussion. Memorials may be made to Olympic View Middle School Music Boosters in honor of Dan, 2602 Mukilteo Speedway, Mukilteo, WA 98275. A special thanks to Dan and Kelly Hanika for their kindness in caring for Dan. No service is planned. Dan will be missed greatly.
