Emily Hood 2002-2022

Posted

Emily Hood, born February 14, 2002, passed away peacefully on Feb. 28, 2022, after battling childhood brain cancer (DIPG) for three years. She is survived by her parents, Mark and Sharon, brothers Mark and Matt, and her sister and best friend, Sarah.

She graduated from Edmonds-Woodway High School with honors in 2020. Emily had many passions in life. She enjoyed spending time in the theater, acting in several shows at The Madrona Children's Theater, as well as the Wade James Theater in Edmonds.

Emily was an equestrian for many years and, more than anything, enjoyed the company of and caring for any horse she rode. As a freshman in high school, Emily joined the wrestling team and eventually became one of the founding members of the first girls wrestling team at Edmonds-Woodway High School.

She joined the swim team to build endurance for wrestling, and came to love swimming as well.

She will be remembered fondly for her contagious smile and love for Jesus. Emily's legacy will live on at Seattle Children's Hospital because of her selfless gift of tissue donation to further the work on curing DIPG.

There will be a Celebration of Emily's Life on March 27at 3 p.m. at the Edmonds Center for the Arts, and a private laying-in ceremony April 1 at Recompose in Seattle.
