Mukilteo Police Department to patrol for excessively loud autos

Focus is on vehicles with modified exhaust systems

Mukilteo Police are conducting emphasis patrols for excessively loud vehicles.

Talk about a social media post blowing up.

On Friday, March 18, the Mukilteo Police Department posted its plans to start conducting emphasis patrols and the citing of drivers of vehicles and motorcycles with excessively loud mufflers and/or modified exhaust systems.

As of earlier this week, the Facebook post has resulted in more than 700 comments, ranging from appreciation from residents to outrage at the police's attempt at "creating more ways to extort money from the citizens that pay your salary," according to one individual.

Hurray! While this is good news, I’d also ask the MPD to cite the semi trucks who violate the No Compression Brakes ordinance while driving toward the ferry dock. It’s a daily occurrence at all times of the day and night!
