Offensive struggles sink Mariner at state regionals | Boys basketball

Mariner went cold from the field during its 4A state regional boys basketball game against Union.

The Marauders connected on only 26% of their shots in a 56-46 loss to the Titans Saturday, Feb. 26, at Battle Ground High School in Vancouver.

The 46 points scored by Mariner (16-9) was a season-low, as the Marauders struggled against the Union zone defense. Senior Naser Motley led Mariner with 14 points.

“We had a tough game,” Marauders coach Tevin Dillon said. “They zoned us for most of the game. We forced turnovers. We just didn’t capitalize on them. We just struggled offensively.”...
