Fire chief to retire and head back home

Chris Alexander helped guide the City's response to the COVID-19 pandemic

Chris Alexander is retiring after seven years as fire chief in Mukilteo and 30 years of fire service.

It was time for a change.

After seven years of leading the Mukilteo Fire Department and more than 30 years in fire service, Chris Alexander decided family had to take priority in his life.

He has accepted a new position in his hometown of Kansas City, Missouri.

Alexander, his husband Mike, and their twin 11-year-old sons will be heading back home to their families in the Midwest. Alexander's last day with the City is Friday, March 4.

"Career-wise, I felt like the department's in a good place. We've accomplished a lot over the last seven years. It's a good time to step away," Alexander said....
