Attorney General: Providence fail to ensure low-income residents get discounts

Attorney General Bob Ferguson announced today, Feb. 25, a consumer protection lawsuit against nine Providence-affiliated facilities and five Swedish hospitals – including Swedish Edmonds – for failing to ensure that eligible low-income Washingtonians receive the discounts to which they are legally entitled, and aggressively collecting money from charity care eligible low-income Washingtonians.
In a news release, Ferguson said he will also file a motion for a preliminary injunction unless the hospitals agree to stop their conduct while the case is ongoing.
