Kamiak girls cross country team named state academic champions with a 4.0 GPA

The Kamiak girls cross country team was named the 4A state academic champions by the Washington Interscholastic Activities Association last week. The Knights had a 4.0 GPA, the only 4.0 among the 38 fall teams. The Kamiak girls cross country team has a long list of accomplishments in 2021.

Senior Emma Arceo and sophomore Bella Hasan are headed to this weekend's 4A state championships after finishing 12th and 22nd, respectively, at the District 1 meet Saturday, Oct. 30, at Lakewood High School.

With just a lone senior on the roster, the Knights placed sixth overall at districts, just missing out on a state team berth. A week earlier, Arceo won the Wesco 4A title, and Hasan took fifth, as the Knights finished second in the team competition.
