Mariner starts out the season with a welcome victory | Football

Marauders pound Lynnwood 47-14

The wait was definitely worth it.

For the last 13 years, Mariner has entered the season, as all teams do, with the goal of getting off to a good start.

And for 13 years, the Marauders have fallen short of that goal by losing their season opener.

That unfortunate streak is now history.

Junior running back Cartez Williams ran for two touchdowns, caught a pass for a TD, and ran back a punt for a score to lead Mariner to a 47-14 victory over Lynnwood in a nonconference football game Friday, Sept. 3, at Goddard Stadium.

Williams rushed for 171 yards on 20 carries and caught one pass for 49 yards...
