Easing of COVID restrictions, summer travel resulting in more ferry traffic

The summer has brought a return to large numbers of vehicles from the ferry driving up the Mukilteo Speedway.
If you're wondering whether more and more ferry traffic is coming up the Mukilteo Speedway, you aren't alone.
Some residents claim the traffic backup on one of Mukilteo's main thoroughfares is getting worse this summer.
The answer is a little more complicated than a simple yes or no, according to Washington State Ferries (WSF).
WSF spokesperson Diane Rhodes noted travel was down last summer after the state imposed significant COVID-19 restrictions. This summer most of those restrictions were lifted June 30, resulting in a flood of people eager to get out on the road and travel.
