Publishers Clearing House Prize Patrol member Danielle Lam has a laugh with Tom and Laura Smith after presenting them with a check for $10,000.

The balloons were a dead giveaway.

Tom Smith saw them through the window as he approached the front door.

Publishers Clearing House Prize Patrol member Danielle Lam was standing outside with a check and bouquets of balloons and roses for his wife, Laura.

As he has done so often before when the doorbell rang, Tom yelled out to his wife that Publishers Clearing House was at the door.

Only this time, it was no joke.

Laura, a retired educator, stepped out of the front door and received the surprise of her life – a $10,000 check – from Publishers Clearing House (PCH), a company that markets...
