This week, Muslims in Mukilteo and around the world celebrated Eid Al Adha, the second most important Islamic holiday. It fell during the summer because Islam uses a lunar calendar; the celebration begins 11 days earlier every year.

Eid Al Adha, the Festival of Sacrifice, commemorates the prophet Ibrahim’s willingness to sacrifice his son Ismael demonstrating his closeness God.

Sacrifice is an important practice in all the Abrahamic faiths. God says in the Quran: You will not attain true goodness until you give of what you love. (Surah Al ‘Imran: 92)
