Sales tax revenue ahead of projections

City to fill assistant planner, maintenance worker positions

Robust sales tax revenue is giving Mukilteo's finances a boost.

During Monday's City Council meeting, Finance Director Shawn Hunstock said sales tax collections through May 2021 are 2.15% higher than 2020 and are $331,357 above budget. First-quarter sales tax revenue was 26.6% higher than budget through March and 35.6% higher than budget through May.

Retail sales tax is more than 20% higher than 2020, and construction tax revenue is 1.3% higher through May.
