High-powered Knights shut down Marauders | Girls basketball

Kamiak had all the answers against district rival Mariner.

The Knights dominated play on both ends of the court and cruised to a 93-42 victory in a Wesco 4A girls basketball game Thursday, June 3, at Mariner High School.

Leading 18-11 late in the first quarter, Kamiak went on a 9-0 run to extend its lead to 27-11. The Knights never looked back, outscoring the Marauders 16-2 to start the second quarter with a 43-13 advantage.

Kamiak coach Maybelle Tupua saw some nice improvement in her team's defense.

"We're executing a lot better in our zone press," she said.
