Life appears to be heading back to normal after more than a year of COVID-19 restrictions.
But it wasn't in time for high school seniors, who have seen many of their graduation events either canceled or modified.
In these difficult times, the community is banding together to show their support for Kamiak's Class of 2021 with a Celebration Parade Thursday, June 10.
Community members are invited to drop off their graduating seniors along the parade route and return in their vehicles for the parade.
Students should be dropped off between 4-4:15 p.m. at a designated "X"-marked spot along the parade route – beginning at the Mukilteo Fire Station (10400 47th Place W.), continuing through Kamiak High School (10801 Harbour Pointe Blvd.), and wrapping up at the intersection of Harbour Pointe Boulevard and Chennault Beach Road.
Graduating seniors should stay at least 3 feet apart to adhere to state guidelines for social distancing. Students are encouraged to wear their cap and gown or school colors.
Families and community members are encouraged to decorate their vehicles with banners, balloons, signs and other celebratory items to support the Class of 2021. After dropping their students off, parents and community members will form a parade line by entering the Kamiak south parking lot and following the traffic cones to the parade route.
The parade will start at about 4:30 p.m. with two students carrying a congratulatory banner. A Mukilteo fire truck will follow and lead the vehicles through the parade route.
After two complete parade loops, parents can pick up their graduates and everyone is invited to celebrate at Mukilteo Lighthouse Park for photos.
