Washington State Ferries to shut down Second Street crosswalk
Continuing safety concerns cited as reason for closure

The temporary crosswalk at Second Street is still operational as of Tuesday, May 11. Washington State Ferries plans to shut down the crosswalk this week, citing continuing safety concerns associated with cars not stopping for pedestrians.
Washington State Ferries is throwing in the towel.
Citing persistent safety concerns with vehicles not stopping for pedestrians, Washington State Ferries (WSF) plans to close the temporary crosswalk at Second Street and SR-525/Mukilteo Speedway later this week.
The right (east) side of the walkway is blocked because of an active construction zone related to the new road connecting the speedway to the ferry terminal. In order to access the waterfront, pedestrians have to cross the speedway to walk down on the left (west) side of the bridge.
