City to study possible rezone of Hawthorne Hall property

Indigenous Peoples, climate change proposals also approved for final docket list

The City Council has yet to make a decision on the future of Hawthorne Hall.

The City Council will be taking a close look at a possible rezoning of the Hawthorne Hall property.

The council voted 5-1 to move the issue to the final docket list during its Monday, April 5, meeting. Making the final docket list does not mean that the council is necessarily going to approve any rezone. It means there is enough interest by the council to warrant spending staff, Planning Commission and council's time to evaluate the issue.

Councilmembers Louis Harris, Joe Marine, Elisabeth Crawford, Richard Emery and Riaz Khan voted to advance the proposal, while Vice President Bob Champion...
