Donate blood in recognition of Mukilteo baby | News Brief

The parents of Charlotte, a Mukilteo baby, who underwent open heart surgery when she was just two days old, are inviting everyone to celebrate her Heartiversary by donating blood.

Donate at any Bloodworks NW Donor Center or Pop-Up Donor Center between through April 30 to show support for Charlotte.

At two days old, Charlotte underwent open-heart surgery, where she received the heart valve of a donor. Throughout her journey, she also received numerous blood transfusions that wouldn't have been possible without local blood donors who donated in the weeks prior.

Charlotte's parents encourage everyone to take an hour out of their day to show their support for Charlotte and to give hope to others who are currently going through surgery.

Step 1. Schedule an appointment to donate between March 31–April 30. Appointments are filling fast. Visit https://schedule.bloodworksnw.org/DonorPortal/Default.aspx or call 1-800-398-7888.

Step 2. On the day of your donation let the registrar know that you are donating on behalf of Charlotte or give the special code "2020." This is the only way her parents can keep track of the overall impact.

To comply with all COVID-19 regulations, appointments and masks required at all Bloodworks donation sites. No guests or people under age 16 are permitted onsite. For more information, visit https://www.bloodworksnw.org/about/news/coronavirus
