State spending hike proposed

12% increase would fund health care, education, homelessness

Funding for health care, education, and efforts to curb houselessness are promised in a $58 billion state budget proposal from the Washington Senate Democrats unveiled March 25.

"This budget reflects our values, helping people get through this pandemic, supporting local small businesses looking out for the vulnerable and working toward racial equity," said John Lovick (D-Mill Creek). "This budget will rebuild our economy by putting people first."

Lovick said the House budget is $58 billion; 8 billion of which is federal funds.
