Letter to the Editor: Why Americans need to pay attention to Myanmar

Early in the morning on Feb. 1, 2021, the military in Myanmar arrested the democratically elected civilian leaders, including human rights icon Aung San Suu Kyi, and seized power in a shocking coup. Military generals claimed, without any evidence, that the 2020 election had been fraudulent. Citizens immediately took to the streets to protest. At least 21 protestors have been killed to date, as unrest continues.
