A stroll to the waterfront isn't safe for pedestrians | Reality Check

One evening last week, my wife Dana and I decided to walk down across the SR-525 bridge to Ivar’s to pick up some dinner. While walking back up the narrow 41-inch sidewalk we had to step out into the road, with exiting ferry traffic to our back, to make room for the other people walking down the sidewalk.

As a pedestrian who has crossed this bridge daily for the past 16 years I’ve always avoided any situation where ferry traffic is to my back and especially where ferry traffic is to my back AND having to step out into an active traffic lane on a state highway! Unfortunately, like so ma...
