It's back.

After being canceled in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Great Mukilteo Garage Sale is returning this spring.

The 33th annual event is scheduled for May 15. The city of Mukilteo will follow with its annual spring cleanup event a week later – May 22. The city sponsors this community service for regular residential customers within city limits. Information on the large item pickup and other details will be announced later.

For years, hundreds of people will haul their wares – the good, the bad and the ugly – into the garage or onto the driveway, dust it off and set it out.

The community event is a joint effort to clean out our homes and attract bargain shoppers from near and far. It's not only an opportunity to play your very own game of "Let's Make a Deal," it's also a chance to visit with your neighbors from a safe social distance, and maybe sell them some of your old stuff while you're at it.

Garage sale aficionados come from as far north as Bellingham and as far south as Vancouver, Washington, and many are looking for specific items, from children's clothing to furniture to tools or appliances.

The community-wide garage sale was started in 1988 by the Mukilteo Business Association, which later became the Mukilteo Chamber of Commerce.
