Letter to the Editor: Minimum wage hike hurts business owners, employees
Last updated 2/17/2021 at 12:38pm
Government orders business owners give “treats” to designated “pet” employees – the family breadwinners. Affordable or not! Called “minimum wages.” Surprise! Turns out the very same treats are given EVERYBODY! Including vastly un-deserving beginners!
Then what happens?
1. Nationwide – ever growing numbers of business owners are forced to call it a day. Their profit descending to zero. Employers and their employees – including the breadwinners – losing familiar and often long established ways of earning a living.
What else happens?
2. For young people – lot! Looking for jobs young people discover minimum wages are PREVENTING any fun, personal success ladder climbs! Why? Hourly paid work below minimum wages is and forever remains forbidden! That area is cursed. Nobody may enter!
On the other hand, it propels beginner’s wages up, up, up! Followed by employer rejections. Excessive wages combined with lack of experience doesn’t compute. Too costly!
