Letter to the Editor: Tunnel would provide more benefits than ferries

Washington State Ferries (WSF) just completed the new $187 million Mukilteo terminal ($139 million original estimate). The terminal resembles a Salish longhouse and is decorated with tribal art from the Tulalip and Suquamish. Mukilteo is the site of the infamous “Treaty of Point Elliott.” Isaac Stevens, our first territorial governor, promised healthcare, education, and access to fishing and hunting grounds to a score of Salish tribes, in exchange for tribal land surrounding Puget Sound.
