City Council close to finalizing 2021 budget

Not filling 2 positions; raising Rosehill rental rate

The Mukilteo City Council moved a step closer to approving the 2021 budget, but it’s not quite there yet.

A combination of projected higher sales tax revenue, along with some reductions, have narrowed the gap between revenues and expenditures in the general fund. The general fund is the city’s main operating fund for governmental services.

Based on stronger than expected 2020 sales tax revenues, the council voted 5-2 to adjust the 2021 sales tax revenue numbers to $2.4 million, up from $2.3 million. Council President Richard Emery, Vice-President Sarah Kneller and Councilmembers Bob Cha...
